DC Adoption Scholarship

The DC Adoption Scholarship assists District of Columbia students who were adopted from the DC Child & Family Services agency after October 1, 2001and students who lost one or both parents as a result of the events of September 11, 2001. The DC Adoption Scholarship awards up to $10,000 toward the total cost of attendance at eligible colleges and universities throughout the US, Guam and Puerto Rico. Like DCTAG, the DC Adoption Scholarship is neither need nor merit-based.

DC Adoption is a scholarship in which the award calculation is based on outstanding financial need, after the deduction of other forms of student aid from the college or university's cost of attendance.
You may apply for DC Adoption using the online DC OneApp by selecting the DC OneApp Online Application link below. Completing the DC OneApp is a three-step process that requires:

1 Completing the DC OneApp on this website
2 Completing the FAFSA at fafsa.ed.gov
                                                            and
3 Providing the DC OneApp supporting documents*

All DC OneApp required supporting documents must be mailed or delivered to the HEFS office at the same time. Incomplete documents will be returned and your DC OneApp will be incomplete. An incomplete DC OneApp cannot be considered for an award.

The 2009-2010: DC OneApp is available January 1, 2009.
